Part-Time Service Advisor

Come join “Best in Class” awarded dealership PETERBILT MANITOBA’s Service department. We are immediately seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Service Advisor for our Brandon location.

The Service Advisor will be responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling recommended or required services to customers. This person will act as Peterbilt Manitoba Ltd.'s first-line customer relations and service representative. The Service Advisor is responsible for gathering and interpreting information on vehicle condition from the Service Technicians to advise the customer on recommended or urgently required services. The Service Advisor will communicate this information in a professional manner, explaining the benefits of services and the potential outcomes of postponing repairs. Some Warranty administration will be required.

The successful candidate will have effective communication skills; demonstrate active listening skills and exhibit customer service excellence with external clients and internal staff.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma; Vocational training in automotive service and repair field is an asset
  • Basic mechanical background and computer knowledge; CDK experience is an asset
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
  • Able to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions and resolutions required
  • Able to work well under pressure and respond quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Positive attitude and the ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally
  • Sales experience is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset
  • Experience working in an automotive or truck dealership service department is an asset
  • Must be dependable and available for scheduled shifts

Job Duties:

  • Advise Customers about necessary service for routine maintenance.
  • Determine automotive problems and services by listening to customer’s description of symptoms, clarifying descriptions of problems.
  • Confer with the customers about inspection results; recommend corrective measures and prepare work order for needed repairs.
  • Prepare a repair order showing time, cost, and labor estimates for service.
  • Check for outstanding recalls or updates on the vehicle.
  • Invoicing and closing work orders.
  • Write a brief description of the problem in the repair order to help the mechanic locate the problem.
  • Explain the work performed and the charges to the customer.
  • Handle customer complaints.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Handles service department filing and records.
  • Update client information.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, other employees and management.
  • Flexible and available for Scheduling.
  • Be neat and clean.
  • Demonstrate an interest in growing the dealership business.
  • Other duties as assigned.
